Athanasios Adam, MD, FICS, is an orthopedic surgeon in Thessaloniki, Greece.
He graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He, then, specialized into General Surgery in Kastoria’s General Hospital, as well as in Orthopedic Surgery in Edessa’s General Hospital and in Thessaloniki’s General Hospital “Agios Pavlos” (Sports Injuries Department).
He was trained in Children’s surgery at “Booth Hall-Children’s Hospital” in Manchester, UK, as well as in Shoulder Surgery at the Academic Hospital “Asklepios Klinik Seligenstadt”, in Frankfurt, Germany. He was also involved with Foot Surgery at “Policlinico-Ponte San Pietro” clinic, in Milan, Italy.
His main specialty training took place in the prothesis/total knee & hip arthroplasty department of the University Orthopedic Clinic “Sahlgrenska”, in Goteborg, Sweden. He remained there for a long time, executing a great number of Total Knee & Hip Replacements, attaching to all the state-of-the-art Swedish preoperative and postoperative protocols.
At the end of 2017 he was trained at the top American “Hospital for Special Surgery-HSS” in the arthroplasties department. (it is considered to be the No.1 Orthopedic Clinic in the USA, according to U.S News & World Report).
He has been a member of the International College of Surgeons (ICS), which is in Chicago, IL. He has taken part in numerous orthopedic conferences, in Greece and abroad.
In 2022 he was accredited with the official accreditation of MAKO Smart Robotics, the ultimate surgical system for robotic total knee & hip replacement, at the headquarters of Stryker company, in Florida, USA. He is the first orthopedic surgeon in Thessaloniki who used the specific technique, and he has performed dozens of successful surgeries since then.
Dr Athanasios Adam, orthopedic surgeon, is currently running two modern private practice offices in Thessaloniki, while he works with Euromedica, a well-established private health-care provider in the region.
